Robert T. Vannan, age 54, of Carbondale, PA. died Tuesday evening, September 30, 2003 at the Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale, following an illness. His wife is the former Catherine (Kate) Beattie.
Born November 13, 1948 in Scranton, PA. He is the son of Robert E. and Jean (Whitby) Vannan of Carbondale.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Carbondale. He was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and the University of Scranton. He was a teacher prior to his employment with the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. He was currently the manager of the Carbondale Wine Spirit Shoppe in Childs.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and son who brought integrity and honesty to not only the lives of his wife, children and friends but to all he encountered. He will continue to be a beacon by the memories of how he cherished life and taught by example.

He is survived by four sons: Ian Vannan of Clarks Summit, PA., Keith Vannan of Nescopeck, PA., Daniel Vannan and Timothy Vannan both of Carbondale, PA.; one sister: Cathy Masco of Carbondale, PA.; one granddaughter: Scarlet Vannan of Clarks Summit, PA.; one nephew: John Masco of Carbondale, PA.; uncle and aunt: James and Jane Vannan of Carbondale, PA.; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
He was preceded in death by an aunt: E. Dorothy Vannan
The funeral was held Saturday, October 4, 2003 at 11:00 am in the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with the Rev. Chase Page, former pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Carbondale and Sister Jennifer Baker, RSM, of Marian Community Hospital, officiating. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park, Montdale, PA.
Friends called Friday, October 3, 2003 from 2-4 7-9. Pallbearers: Daniel Vannan, Timothy Vannan, both sons; John Masco, Daniel Beattie, Dennis Roche and Matthew Cerminaro.
