Robert D. Pedley, age 73, of West Clifford, PA., died Friday evening, July 29, 2005 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. His wife is the former Mary Allen, to whom he was married to for 52 years.
Born September 15, 1931 in Scranton, PA, he was the son of the late George and Elizabeth (Thomas) Pedley.
He attended St. Pius X Church in Royal, PA. He was a graduate of the Scranton Technical High School and was an Air Force Veteran. He worked as a switchman for Bell Telephone Company for over 35 years. He belonged to the American Trap Shooters Association, the Pennsylvania State Sportsmens Association and the Bell Telephone Pioneers.
He enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, spending time with his family and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by one daughter: Mary husband Victor Gazella of Whites Crossing, PA.; three sons: William wife Laurie Pedley of Mehoopany, PA., Gerald wife Margaret Pedley of Olyphant, PA. and James wife Phyllis Pedley of Forest City, PA.; three brothers: George, Jr. Chuck Pedley of Mountain Top, PA., Dever Bud wife Norma Pedley of Lake Mary, FL. and Raymond wife Esther Thomas of Tunkhannock, PA.; four grandsons: Loren Pedley, Devon Pedley, Sean Pedley and Victor Gazella; two granddaughters: Heather Gazella, Kyla Pedley; a sister-in-law: Florence Pedley of Mountain Top, PA.; Several Nieces Nephews
The funeral was held Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at 9:00 am from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home, Dundaff Main Streets, Clifford, PA., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in St. Pius X Church, Route 106, Royal, PA., celebrated by Monsignor Joseph G. Quinn, pastor. Interment, Forest Hills Cemetery, Dunmore, PA.
Friends called Monday, August 1, 2005 from 4-8 PM.
Pallbearers: Joe Kennan, J.C. White, Bob Mitchell, Bill Lopatofsky, LeRoy Cook and John Phelps.
