Obituary

Robert F. “Mink” Morgan Jr., 99, Carbondale, PA, passed away Tuesday evening, March 3, 2026 in Olyphant, PA, under the care of his niece and Traditional Hospice, surrounded by family. He is preceded in death by sister, Violet Ann Barnes and her husband, Robert Barnes.

Born July 24, 1926, in Vandling, PA, son of Robert Frank Morgan and Annie May Davies Morgan. His nickname “Mink”, which has stuck for over 80 years, comes from time spent on his family’s mink farm in the 1930’s. At age 17 Bobby joined the U.S. Navy serving as a Seabee during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Returning from war, he graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in 1946. He reenlisted in 1950 for the Korean War, serving in Trinidad and Cuba. He was a member of Carbondale Lodge No. 249 Free and Accepted Masons for over 76 years.

From a very young age Bobby worked multiple jobs to help support his family. He found a career with Western Electric working as an Installer and finally an Installation Supervisor. After working for 28 years, he proudly enjoyed over 45 years of retirement.

Extremely active into his late 90’s Bobby enjoyed tinkering in his garage, a daily trip to Burger King, and meeting old friends and co-workers, “The Fellas”, every Wednesday for coffee. Bobby will always be remembered for his eccentric personality and frugal lifestyle.

He is survived by his niece, Cathy Sue Loyack and husband Gary, of Olyphant, PA, his nephew, David Barnes and wife Mary Ann, of Carbondale, PA. Four great-nephews; Aaron Loyack, Andrew Loyack and companion Megan Hazelton, Peter Barnes and wife Sarah, Robert Travers and wife Rachel. Two great-great-nephews, Peter Barnes Jr. and Rhys Travers. Two first cousins, Ann Marie Pettinato, Martin Price and wife, Florence.

He is also preceded in death by an infant nephew, Robert Barnes, great-nephew, Devin Barnes, a longtime companion, Theresa Kania, and special cousin, Daniel Price Jr.

The family expresses their gratitude to Traditional Home Health Care as well as Christine Silfee, and Joe Loftus for their care and assistance. Also, Megan Hazelton and Bobby’s part-time roommate Anthony Rusnak for partaking in all his shenanigans the last three and a half years.

The funeral will be Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 89 Farview St., Carbondale, PA, officiated by the Rev. Bill McGinty of Trinity Episcopal Church, Carbondale, as well as Masonic services by Carbondale Lodge No. 249. Interment with military honors will take place in the Spring at Rounds Uniondale Cemetery, Union Dale, PA.

Friends may call Thursday, March 12, 2026 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
