Robert P. Lilly, 80, of Carbondale, PA and formerly of Scranton, PA, died Saturday, March 28, 2026 at home after an illness.

Born March 12, 1946 in Scranton, PA, he was the son of the late John F. and Dorothy Leidinger Lilly.

Bobby worked as a custodian for 24 years before his retirement from the University of Scranton and was a former member of St. Ann Basilica Parish, Scranton. He was a die hard Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Phillies fan.

He leaves behind a legacy of love that his family will forever cherish.  Even throughout his illness, Bobby never missed family get togethers from weddings, holiday dinners, or birthday celebrations for his grandchildren and great grandbabies. Those who knew him will always remember his terrific sense of humor. Any visitor to his home always left with smile or laugh.  Since his illness in 2008, Bobby resided with his daughter Colleen, who was his dedicated caregiver.  She expresses these words: "Until we see you again Daddy, you're at peace now - we all love you".    

He is survived by two daughters: Colleen Mowery and husband, Todd of Carbondale, PA, and Kelly Bestrycki-Lilly of Simpson, PA; grandchildren: John Ragen, Ashley Miller and husband, Cody, Jamie, Alyssa, Josie and Jesse Bestrycki, Michael Bossick and Darren Lilly; a step-grandson: Todd Boyles; 10 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his twin brother: John Lilly, and sisters: Mary Ann Donovan, Dorothy Murray, and Kathleen Weir.

A viewing was held Thursday, April 9, 2026 from 4-7 p.m. at Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA. A Catholic blessing service was conducted at 4:30 p.m.
