Robert Richard "Big Bob" Greene, 87, of Carbondale, PA, died Sunday, May 26, 2024 at Regional Hospital, Scranton, PA. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Rosella M. Granville. They were married September 25, 1965.

Born October 30, 1936 in Mayfield, PA, he was the son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Mullen Greene.

Bob was a graduate of Mayfield High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Ford Motor Company in Mahwah, NJ, Hendricks Manufacturing in Carbondale, PA, and retired from the Carbondale Housing Authority.

He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, PA, and very proud of his Irish heritage. Bob was a Notre Dame Football fanatic and avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals.

He is also survived by one daughter: Tracy Greene-Sosa of Carbondale, PA; one grandson: Christopher Greene and wife, Brittany of Carbondale, PA; two great grandchildren: Kinsley and Brayden "Grampa's Best Pal" Greene; numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by four brothers: Thomas, Michael, Jackie and James Greene; and four sisters: Sister Brian IHM, Gretta Allen, Elaine Todd and Elizabeth Murphy.

The funeral was held Friday, May 31, 2024 from Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, PA, celebrated by Rev. Seth Wasnock, pastor. Interment with military honors, Calvary Cemetery, Mayfield, PA.

Viewing hours were held Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 5-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations were sent to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
