Robert Gillette, Sr., 76, of Waymart, PA., died Saturday morning, August 25, 2012 at Commonwealth Hospice, Scranton, PA., after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife the former Domenica Minnie Maida Burney. Born July 23, 1936 in Carbondale, PA., he was the son of the late Joseph and Marion O'Connor Gillette. He had been a self employed businessman having developed and operated many businesses in the Waymart area over the years including Bob's Bargain Outlet. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale, PA. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as traveling with his wife Minnie. He is survived by two daughters: Maria Gillette and husband Thomas Walter of Carbondale, PA. and Sheila Gillette-Seana of Waymart, PA.; two sons: Robert Gillette, Jr. and companion Sharon of Greenfield Township, PA. and Paul Douglas Gillette of Carbondale, PA.; three step sons: Michael Burney of Waymart, PA., Vincent Burney of Lake Ariel, PA. and Dave Burney of Clifford, PA.; two sisters: Linda Matoushek and husband James of Waymart, PA. and Renee Wetherington of Waymart, PA.; four brothers: Joseph Gillette and wife Rosemary of Poughkeepsie, NY., Thomas Gillette of Carbondale, PA., James Gillette of Sayreville, NJ. and William Gillette of Elizabeth City, NC.; 12 Grandchildren; 3 Great Grandchildren; his former wife: Vera Sweder Gillette of Carbondale, PA.; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Rosemarie Walitis and Carol Sekelsky; five brothers: Fred, Edward, Richard, Gary and John Gillette. A private visitation for family was held Tuesday, August 28, 2012 from 3-6 PM at the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, PA. Cremation followed.
