Robert E. DeGrazio, age 82, of Carbondale, PA., died Friday evening, April 7, 2006 at Mercy Hospital, Scranton, PA. He was the husband of the late Lillian Ledrick who died January 6, 1996. Born January 15, 1924 in Pittsburgh, PA. He was the son of the late James Genaro and Josephine (Cerra) DeGrazio. He was also preceded in death by his sep father, Carlo Leo. He has resided in Carbondale since 1924. Prior to his retirement, he worked in the coal mines and the coal fields since he was 17 years old, additionally he was an accomplished welder. He was an Army veteran of World War II having served with the 113th Calvary in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was presented the Chapel of Four Chaplians Legion of Honor Award, as well as the metal of the Jubilee of Liberty which was rewarded by the people of France. He was instrumental in rebuilding the American Legion Post 221 and was a member of the VFW Post 7965 and the DAV Chapter 98 all of Carbondale. He was also a member of the Society of the 28th Division. He was a member of the Belmont Street Neighborhood Association, the Carbondale Historical Society and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church where he was an usher. He was also a former Cub Scout Master. He is survived by two daughters: Anna Marie Cummings of Carbondale, PA. and Rose Mary husband Ronald Kresock of Concord, OH.; one son: James Genaro wife Diane DeGrazio of Lake Ariel, PA.; one sister: Concetta Christopher of Montdale, PA.; 7 Grandchildren; 11 Great Granchildren; Several Nieces Nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister: Mary Leo; five brothers: Louis, Angelo, Frank, Vincent and Joseph DeGrazio. The funeral was held Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at 9:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc. Farview 41st Streets, Carbondale, with full Military honors by the VFW Post 4712, Simpson, PA., and with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Russell Motsay, pastor. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park, Montdale. Friends called Monday, April 10, 2006 from 5-8 PM. Pallbearers: James and Robert DeGrazio, Jeffrey and Ronald Kresock, John Cummings and George Zeo.
