Robert H. Curtis, age 79, of Curtis Valley, PA, died Wednesday morning, May 28, 2014 at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, PA.
Born February 4, 1935 in Curtis Valley, PA, he was the son of the late Homer and Myrtle (Wiltonstein) Curtis.
Robert was a lifetime resident of Curtis Valley and was a dairy farmer. He also worked as a machine operator at Rydzik Lumber Mill, Simpson, PA and retired from Aldenville Wood Products after 35 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching Bonanza and loved being in the woods. He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Brooklyn Nets fan. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by ten children: Russell Curtis and wife Janet of Curtis Valley, PA; Jean Slater and husband Bob of Forest City, PA; Bill Curtis of Forest City, PA; Ruth Wetherill and husband Ray of Hamlin, PA; Tom Curtis and wife Debbie of Forest City, PA; Jimmy Curtis and wife Michelle of Carbondale, PA; Marjie Dolph and husband Mike of Curtis Valley, PA; Isabel Dolph and husband John of Thornhurst, PA; Faith Curtis of Browndale, PA and Ronnie Curtis and wife Janet of Pleasant Mount, PA; one sister: Joyce VanAmber of Watkins Glen, NY; 21 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Elizabeth Curtis; one granddaughter: Tiffany Curtis; one brother: Erwin Curtis; one sister: Doris Howell; one daughter-in-law: Rhoda Curtis.
The funeral was held Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 11:00 AM from the Clinton Center Baptist Church, Waymart, PA, with Pastor Don Hickey, officiating. Interment followed at Clinton Center Cemetery, Waymart, PA.
Friends called Friday, May 30, 2014 from 5-8 PM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, PA.
