Obituary

Robert “Big Bob” Conrad, 72, of Kingsley, PA, died Sunday, November 1, 2026 at Allied Hospice, Scranton, PA, after an illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Penny Ann Caton on May 27, 2023.

Born March 29, 1954 in, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late William W. Conrad, Sr. and the late Elsie Klim Conrad.

Bob was an entrepreneur in the truest sense; he began his career as a welding mechanic and independent truck driver. He later operated a veal farm and stone quarry, where he worked side by side with his son Bobby. While operating his business ventures Bob also worked as a maintenance manager for Bardane Manufacturing in Jermyn. Bob’s business ventures always centered around his family working beside him. His last business venture was being a partner with his daughters, Missy and Holly in Conrad's Pizza in Susquehanna.

He will be fondly remembered by his family as an extremely hard worker who put in many long hours to support his family. Bob was a loving husband and terrific father who cherished his children. Bob also found great enjoyment spending time with his family in the outdoors, especially hunting.

He is survived four children: Robert D. Conrad, Jr., and girlfriend, Jill of Susquehanna, PA, Tina Conrad at home, Melissa Meckwood and boyfriend, Jason of Lenoxville, PA and Holly Conrad and companion, John of Hop Bottom, PA; three grandchildren: Kimberly Ross, Lexie Meckwood and Ryan Meckwood; five step-grandchildren: Bradley Warner, Brandy Warner, Jesika Shoemaker, Landon Turner and Jacob Chemchick; two sisters: Joan Phillips of New Jersey and Lois Conrad of Jermyn, PA; three brothers: Roger Conrad of New Jersey, Michael Conrad of Jermyn, PA and Fred Conrad of New Jersey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by one sister: Amelia Malone; and four brothers: John Conrad, William Conrad, Jr., Daniel Conrad and Harry Conrad, who died in the Vietnam War
