Robert J. Burkosky, age 77, a resident of the Carbondale Nursing Home, Carbondale, PA., and formerly of Forest City, PA., died Saturday evening, June 14, 2008 at the emergency room in the Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale, PA. Born June 26, 1930 in Forest City, PA., he was the son of the late Joseph and Sophie (Syrica) Barkosky. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Johnson Shoe Factory in Forest City. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and was of the catholic faith. He is survived by two sisters: Rita Bevacqua of Carbondale, PA. and Henrietta Cannazziro of Port Ritchie, FL.; two brothers: Leo and Thomas Barkosky, both of Binghamton, NY.; Several nieces nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Edward, Henry and Joseph Barkosky; three sisters: Felicia Stackhouse, Jenny Lee and Celia Amato. A blessing service was held Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 11:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., Farview 41st Streets, Carbondale., with the Rev. Patrick Albert, pastor of the Forest City Catholic Community Church's. Cremation followed at Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald, PA. Inurnment, Sacred Heart Cemetery, Forest City. Friends called Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until service time.
