Rita A. Gardella, age 88, of Clifford Township, PA., died Saturday morning, October 29, 2011 at home. Born December 5, 1922 in Carbondale, PA., she was the daughter of the late Joseph M. and Adele (Kollier) Gardella. She worked at the Lenoxville General Store and was a cleaning person for the Clifford Post Office and State Aggregates in Clifford for many years. She owned operated Del-Ray Greenhouse for several years at her home where she sold flowers and grew organic gardens. She was unique, kind hearted, an avid reader and was a great lady. She loved her poodles and was a special lady to her friends. She attended the Lenoxville United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by one brother: Joseph Lawrence Gardella. The funeral was held Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 12:00 PM in the Lenoxville United Methodist Church, with Pastor Peg Knapich, officiating. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Michael Rowan, Paul Rowan and Richard Gullone Friends called Wednesday, November 2, 2011 from 11:00-12:00 PM at the church. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were sent to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Twp, PA 18411.
