Rita G. Bernardini, age 83, of Crystal Lake, PA. and formerly of Carbondale, PA. died Tuesday evening, February 17, 2004 at the Mid Valley Hospice, Peckville, PA. Her husband was Ubaldo Bernardini who died in 1969. Born October 27, 1920 in Carbondale, PA. She was the daughter of the late Carmino and Rose (Oliveri) Sackela. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, a graduate of the Benjamin Franklin High School, and a past president of Club 77, all of Carbondale. She also was a member of The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be dearly missed. She is survived by two daughters: Ilva Steckert Allen of Crystal Lake, PA. and Rose Mongiello of Scranton, PA.; one sister: Rose Croci of Long Island, NY.; 3 Granddaughters; Several Nieces Nephews She was preceded in death by one brother: Peter Sackela; three sisters: Mary Pettinato, Angela Calastri and Adeline Caudullo The funeral was held Saturday, February 21, 2004 at 9:00 am from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Russell Motsay, pastor. Interment, parish cemetery, Carbondale. Friends called Friday, February 20, 2004 from 6-9 pm. Pallbearers: Daniel Allen, Carmine Caudullo, Anthony Caudullo, Hjalmar Hansen, David Pettinato and Carmine Pettinato.
