Richard Sona, Sr. 78, of Carbondale, PA died Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Golden Living Center, Scranton, PA. Born June 23, 1938 in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Frederick and Ruth Scolfield Sona. He is survived by his wife: Maryanne Burns Sona; seven children: Ricky, James, Kevin and Shawn Sona, Denise Vaccaro, Sharon Smeriglio and Dawn Zambranno; two sisters: Ellen Dembroski and Gertrude Graham; two brothers: Louis and Harold Sona; 16 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews He was also preceded in death by four brothers: Frank, Raymond, Charles and Fred Sona; two sisters: Ruth Dubee and Anna Flynn.
