Richard W. Dick Ross, 89, of RR, Nicholson, PA., died Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at home. His companion and soul mate for the past 25 years was the late Patricia M. Doolittle who died April 6, 2005. Born February 1, 1916 in RD Clarks Summit, PA., he was the son of the late George W. and Maude H. Barney Ross. He was a graduate of the Falls Overfield High School, Mill City, PA., and was a retired Dairy Farmer. He had a great appreciation for all kinds of animals and claimed to be an outdoorsman before it became a sport. He loved to tell stories and always found something good to say about everyone no matter what the situation was. Having lived through the depression, he could find a second use for just about anything. He will be deeply missed and thought of fondly for generations to come. He is survived by two nieces: Beverly Madigan and her children William and Patricia of Canton, PA., and Linda Shively and husband Doug of Brookhaven, PA. and their children Eric and wife Robyn Shively of New York, NY. and Karin and husband Randy Grace of Brookhaven, PA.; four step children: Patty Hill of Olyphant, PA., Art Doolittle of Dimock, PA., Vincent Doolittle of Fort Sheridan, IL. and Eric Doolittle of Olyphant, PA.; 9 Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son: Randy Ross and a sister: Gertrude Ransom and husband Ronald. The funeral was held Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at 2:00 pm in the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home, Dundaff and Main Streets, Clifford, PA., with the Rev. Levi Ransom, officiating. Interment, Clifford Valley Cemetery, Clifford, PA. Friends called Tuesday, November 22, 2005 from 12:00pm till service time. Pallbearers: Art, Vincent and Eric Doolittle, Mason Hill, Eric Shively and Jonathan Knoll.
