Richard P. Dick Pesek, age 67, of Carbondale, PA, died Wednesday morning, April 16, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family after a short battle with cancer. His wife is the former Jane Ann Sopko. Born April 28, 1946 in Saint Paul, MN, he is the son of Helen (Elleson) Pesek of Ashley, ND and the late Joseph Pesek. In Dick's younger years, he worked on the family farm in Spiritwood, ND before moving to Pennsylvania seeking work as a driller. After marrying Jane Ann and starting a family, Dick owned and operated Dick's Roofing and Siding and later in life owned and operated Dick's Service Center on Route 6 in Mayfield for over 20 years. He enjoyed NASCAR, trips to the casino, gardening and traveling to car shows where he entered his custom built truck he made and usually came home with the trophy. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching his grandson Josh race quads, listening to his grandson Kyle play guitar and watching his granddaughters Alyssa Paxton play softball. Dick was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. The family would like to thank Dr. Tamrat Bekele, Theresa Micknick, Parogon Home Healthcare of Carbondale and Home Healthcare Hospice of Eynon for all of their wonderful care to Dick during these last few months during his illness. He is survived by three daughters: Lisa Postlethwaite and husband Gordy of Simpson, PA, Nina Granville and husband Glen of Carbondale, PA and Lori Pesek and companion Stephen Terpak of Carbondale, PA; four grandchildren: Kyle Pesek, Joshua Terpak, Alyssa and Paxton Postlethwaite; one sister: Nina Klein and husband Bill of Ashley, ND; one brother: Joseph Pesek and wife Gloria of Spiritwood, ND; several nieces and nephews. The funeral was held Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 9:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Msgr. David L. Tressler, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Gordy Postlethwaite, Glen Granville, Stephen Terpak, Josh Terpak, Kyle Pesek and Nick Sopko. Friends called Monday, April 21, 2014 from 5-8 PM.
