Richard J. Liuzzo, age 61, of Carbondale, PA. died early Christmas morning, December 25, 2003 at home. His wife is the former JoAnn Vaverchak.
Born November 21, 1942 in Carbondale, PA. He was the son of the late Joseph and Carmella (DePoti) Liuzzo.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale. He was a graduate of the Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale. He owned and operated, along with his family, Liuzzos Garage and Body Shop, Carbondale.
He loved spending time with his family and was especially proud of his two sons racing accomplishments. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Twilight League at Fern Hall Golf Course. He also enjoyed driving his Coupe in which he built completely.
He is survived by
one daughter: Jennifer Colachino of Nicholson, PA.; two sons: Richard Liuzzo of Greenfield Township, PA. and Jeffrey Liuzzo of Carbondale, PA.; one sister: Dorothy Falbo of Carbondale, PA.; three brothers: Patrick, Thomas and Anthony Liuzzo all of Carbondale, PA.; One Granddaughter: Dominique Liuzzo of Greenfield Township, PA.; Two Grandsons: Danny Colachino, Jr. and Tyler Colachino both of Nicholson, PA.; Many Nieces Nephews
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Joseph and John Liuzzo
The funeral was held Monday, December 29, 2003 at 9:00 am from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale celebrated by Rev. Russell Motsay, pastor and Deacon Carmine Mendicino of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Dunmore, PA. Entombment, Our Mother Of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township.
Private viewing was held Sunday, December 28, 2003 from 6-9 pm. Pallbearers: Richard and Jeffrey Liuzzo (Sons), Daniel Colachino (Son-In-Law), Joseph Liuzzo, Patrick Liuzzo, John Liuzzo, Michael Liuzzo, and Mark Hanichak (Nephews). Honary Pallbearers: The Twilight Golf League.
