Richard G. "Dick" Julia, 86, of Greenfield Township, PA, died Tuesday morning, July 7, 2015 at the Old Orchard Health Care Center, Easton, PA, after a lengthy illness. His wife of 62 years is the former Betty Mazza. Born February 4, 1929 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late John and Helen Molinaro Julia. Dick was an Army veteran and served during the Korean War. He worked for over 30 years as a social worker for the Department of Welfare, before his retirement. He was a member of the Greenfield Township Volunteer Fire Company and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His greatest joy in life was his family and was so proud that his son and grandson became physicians. He was very kind, generous and helped so many families in need during his employment. He is survived by one son: Dr. Ronald Julia, MD. and wife Dr. Ellen Mary Julia, MD. of Bethlehem, PA; one grandson: Dr. Ronald Julia, Jr., MD. of Emmaus, PA; one granddaughter: Helen Julia of Emmaus, PA; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother: Dr. Walter Julia, MD. The funeral was held Friday, July 10, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with Pastor Wayne Wolfe of the First Presbyterian Church of Carbondale, officiating. Interment with military honors, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township. Pallbearers: Dr. Ronald Julia, Jr., Joseph Cuce, James Cuce, Paul Canevari, J.R. Mazza, Joseph Mazza, Dean Cerra and Frank Carito.
