Obituary

Richard J. Burko, 74, of Carbondale, PA, died Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Commonwealth Hospice, Scranton, PA. Born in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late John and Ida Dayson Burko. Richard was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and also served in the 109th Infantry of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. He had been employed for many years as a machine mechanic in the local garment industry and was later a truck driver along with Joe Wagner, Jr., at RJ Trucking in Carbondale. Richard loved his dogs, especially Trixie who was his favorite. He also enjoyed classic cars and going to car shows. The family would like to thank Dr. Linda Barrasse for her many years of compassionate care and friendship to Richard. He is survived by a daughter: Debbie Terpak and husband Greg of Scott Township, PA; a sister: Helen Critelli of Forest City, PA; a brother: Raymond Hauser of Dickson City, PA; several nieces and nephews including, Jennifer Tighe and John Critelli; and his extended family: Janet Wagner and her children and grandchildren, whom he loved and cared for dearly. He was preceded in death by a brother: James Hauser; a sister: Bette Lacombe; and Joe Wagner, Sr., whom he considered as a brother. A funeral service was held Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 8:00 p.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with Rev. Margaret Hartman, officiating. Inurnment, S.S. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Simpson, PA. Friends called Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were made to the Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Drive, Honesdale, PA 18431 Visitation at Funeral Home 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm Wednesday, April 29, 2015 Carmine J. & Louis C.
