Regina H. Scarpino, RN., 87, of Carbondale, PA, died Monday night, February 6, 2023 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA, after an illness. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Patrick L. "Skippy" Scarpino.

Born October 4, 1935 in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Primo and Helen Lopushnock Fofi.

Regina was a 1953 graduate of the Benjamin Franklin High School and a 1957 graduate of St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing, both of Carbondale. She began her nursing career in 1958 at Moses Taylor Hospital and in 1960 she began employment at the Carbondale General Hospital and worked there until its closing. She later retired from the Carbondale Nursing Home. Regina was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale.

During her retirement years, Regina enjoyed traveling and spending winters at her residence in Delray Beach, FL. While in Florida, she was active with the complex's women's club and especially liked daily get togethers' with friends playing cards. Regina enjoyed cooking, baking and tending to her flower garden. She was especially fond for her cat, Buttons.

She is survived by one son: John P. Scarpino and wife, Jennifer of Mims, FL; two daughters: Atty. Ann Marie Scarpino of Chesapeake Beach, MD and Patricia Lewis and husband, Robert, II. of Carbondale, PA; three grandchildren: Robert Lewis, III. and wife, Kristina of Chapel Hill, NC, Nicole Scarpino and Benjamin Scarpino both of Gainesville, FL; three great-granddaughters: Charlotte, Abigail and Savannah Lewis; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers: Eugene, Daniel and Richard Fofi.

The funeral was held Monday, February 13, 2023 from Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, PA, concelebrated by Rev. Seth Wasnock, pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale, PA; Rev. Arun Lakra, pastor of Ascension Parish, Forest City, PA; and Rev. Kevin Miller, pastor of St. Bridget Parish, Friendsville, PA . Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.

Pallbearers: John Scarpino, Robert Lewis, III., Anthony Scarpino, Robert O'Hara and Terry Shields.

Viewing hours were held Sunday, February 12, 2023 from 2-6 p.m.
