Obituary

Regina A. Srebro, 85, died Sunday afternoon, February 8, 2009 at the Allied Skilled Nursing Center in Scranton, PA. Born and raised in Dickson City, PA., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Sophia (Zabinski) Rosiak.She graduated from Dickson City High School. After raising ten children, she achieved Nurses Aid Certification from Johnson's School of Technology. She worked at local nursing homes and also provided private duty service. Regina was spiritually and civic minded. She held religious services in her home, volunteered with the Dickson City Ambulance Service and did campaign work in local politics. Regina was pleasant, compassionate and had an engaging sense of humor. Her life mirrored the woman portrayed in the Gospel of Luke, Chapter 21. She was more than willing to give all she had to help others. With her family foremost, Regina enjoyed the simple things in life. Her favorite holiday was Christmas celebrating the Polish tradition of Wigilia.She is survived by five loving sons: Marion Srebro and wife Valerie, Leonard Srebro and wife Barbara, Paul Srebro and wife Donna, Mark Srebro and wife Christine and Thomas Srebro and wife Joanne; three loving daughters: Colette Hughes and husband John, Jean Collins, and Elaine Ord and husband Ronald; two loving daughters-in-law: Michelle Srebro and Sharon Srebro; 20 grandchildren: Char Hudak and husband John, Jennifer Pike and husband Larry, Jonathan Hughes and wife Tanya, Jessica Jenkins and husband Russ, Marti Rae Calpin, Jeremy Srebro and fiance Laura, Alyse Srebro, Joel Hughes and wife Laurie, Reina Calpin and fiance Rick, Tommy Srebro, Bren Calpin, Allie Srebro, Adam Calpin, Tessa Srebro, Janelle Srebro, Stephanie Srebro, Troy Srebro, Sarah Srebro, Staci Srebro and Cal Srebro; four great grandchildren: Izaiah Calpin, Kasey Lynn Jenkins, Sydney Gushlaw and Daniel Joseph Srebro; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren: Cliff Capuano, Christin Repella, Veronica and Paul Ord, Rebecca and Leah Pike, Tyler, Damien, Alexis and Guen Repella and Rylynn Ord.; one sister: Pearl Mazur; one brother: Eugene Rosiak and wife Marie; many nieces, nephews and friends.She was preceded in death by two loving sons: Rev. Joseph E. Srebro and Anthony C. Srebro; one son-in-law: Joseph Lee Collins; two granddaughters: Tyna Ziegler and Tara Ord; several brothers and sisters; her former husband: Joseph L. Srebro. A viewing before cremation was held Wednesday, February 11, 2009 from 6-9 PM at the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., Farview 41st Streets, Carbondale, PA.A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dickson City, celebrated by Msgr. Patrick Pratico. Inurnment, parish cemetery, Dickson City, PA.
