Obituary

Raymond J. Zigmont, 77, of Carbondale, PA., died Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA. He was the husband of the former Mary Mulrooney. They were married on March 23, 1957. Born in Carbondale, PA., he was the son of the late John and Bessie Grayeski Zigmont. He was a 1953 graduate of the Benjamin Franklin High School in Carbondale and had served in the Army from 1957 to 1959 with the 509th Signal Company and later in the Army reserve with the XXI Army Corps. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by Cross Engineering in Carbondale as a machinist. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church and the Cottage Hose Company both of Carbondale. He was and avid gardener, hunter and fisherman who enjoyed being outdoors in nature. He is survived by sister-in-law's and brother-in-law's: Rose and Charles Maine of Ocala, FL., Monica and Bill Machalek of Endicott, NY. and Frank Ciganek of Apalachin, NY; two godchildren: Mary Beth Vanderpoel and Robert Ciganek both of Endicott, NY.; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Joseph and Vincent Kadish; a sister-in-law: Ann Ciganek. The funeral was held Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 10:15 AM from the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Morris Place at Terrace Street, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Monsignor David L. Tressler, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township. Friends called Tuesday, November 20, 2012 from 2-4 7-9 PM. Pallbearers: Bob Ciganek, Jim Ciganek, Dave Machalek, Joey Machalek, Bill Kadish, Ray Vanderpoel, Paul Veruto, Joe Veruto and Donald Fedorchak. Mass 10:30 am Wednesday, November 21, 2012 St. Rose Of Lima Church, Carbondale, PA 6 North Church Street Carbondale, Pennsylvania, United States
