Rachel B. Machell age 85, of 15 Main Street, Clifford died Thanksgiving day, November 28, 2002 at the VNA Hospice Unit at Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale after a brief illness. She was the widow of Albert (Pat) Machell, who died October 22, 1985.
Born April 6, 1917 in Elkdale, PA. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Bowen) Adams.
She was a lifetime resident of Clifford Township. She was a member and Deacon Emeritus of the Clifford Baptist Church and a charther member of the Clifford Township Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Before her retirement she was a long time employee at the former Carbondale General Hospital.
She is survived by one son: William Machell, with whom she resided with in Clifford, PA.; six daughters: Frances Johnson of Tunkhannock, PA., Elizabeth Grant of Harford, PA., Rachel Kochmer of Clifford, PA., Alberta Miller of Elkdale, PA., Margaret Farrell of Middletown, MD. and Janice Price of Clifford, PA.; 24 Grandchildren; 26 Great Grandchildren; Nieces and Nephews
She was preceded in death by three sons: Joseph, Albert and an infant; three sisters: Sarah Barney, Naomi Wilson and Madeline Wilson; two brothers, George and David Adams
The funeral was held Monday, December 2, 2002 at 1:00 PM in the Clifford Baptist Church, Church Street, Clifford with Rev. John McCarty, Pastor, officiating. Interment, Willow View Cemetery, Clifford.
Viewing was held Sunday, December 1, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home, Dundaff and Main Streets, Clifford and Monday, December 2, 2002 from 12:00 PM till service time at the church.
