Rachel M. Kochmer, age 67, of Lake Idlewild, Clifford Township, PA., died Friday evening, March 23, 2012 at the Commonwealth Hospice of Northeast Pennsylvania, Scranton, PA. She was the wife of the late Joseph Paul Kochmer, Sr., who died April 30, 1996. They were married on June 22, 1963. Born January 5, 1945 in Carbondale, PA., she was the daughter of the late Albert Pat and Rachel (Bowen) Machell. She was a graduate of the Clifford Elementary and the Mountain View High School. She worked at Sears Roebuck Company, Clifford Dress Factory, Horn's Restaurant, Clifford and the Mountain View Restaurant, Clifford. She retired from the Clifford Post Office. She was a member of the Clifford Baptist Church and its Friendship Circle. She was also the superintendent of the church's Sunday school. She was a member of the Clifford Township Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Rachel enjoyed life to its fullest, she loved baking, sewing, quilting, dancing, riding motorcycles, playing volleyball and entertaining. She is survived by three sons: Joseph Paul Kochmer, Jr. and wife Diane, Robert Kochmer and fiance Kathryn Elkins and Scott Kochmer, all of Clifford, PA.; one daughter: Machelle Owens and husband William of Clifford, PA.; eleven grandchildren: Joseph Paul Kochmer, III., Jacqueline Kochmer, Jennifer Kochmer, Jillian Kochmer, Jordan Kochmer, William Owens, Jr., Bradley Owens, Bryan Owens, Lane Kochmer, Lexis Kochmer and Korey Elkins; five sisters: Frances Johnson of Clifford, PA., Elizabeth Grant of Harford, PA., Alberta Miller of Clifford Township, PA., Margaret Farrell of Mount Washington, KY. and Janice Price of Clifford, PA.; one brother: William Machell of Clifford, PA.; numerous nieces and nephews; companion: Andrew Wyzykowski of Lake Idlewild, PA and his daughters Lauri Mitchell and husband David, Karen Gekas and her children Taylorann and Julian. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Joseph and Albert Machell. The funeral was held Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Clifford Baptist Church, with Chaplain Richard Butler and Rev. Jack Race, officiating. Interment, Willow View Cemetery, Clifford PA. Pallbearers: Joseph Kochmer, III., Jordan Kochmer, Lane Kochmer, Korey Elkins, William Owens, Jr., Bradley Owens and Bryan Owens - her grandsons.
