Rachel A. Bianco, age 96, formerly of Frank Street, Carbondale, PA. and a resident of the Carbondale Nursing Home, died early Monday morning, February 18, 2013 at the nursing home.
Born March 13, 1916 in Carbondale, PA., she was the daughter of the late Carmino and Josephine (Cerra) Bianco.
Rachel was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale and worked as a cook in the dietary department of the former Carbondale General Hospital. Upon retirement, Rachel took to gardening and traveling to various locales-including, what became frequent visits to Italy and Atlantic City. She also volunteered many of her retirement years at the Carbondale Senior Citizen Center serving in their kitchen facility.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Carbondale Nursing Home, Hospice of the Sacred Heart and Monsignor David L. Tressler for their kindness and care to Rachel.
Rachel is survived by nephews and caregivers: Francis and Robert Bianco with lady friend Dotty all of Carbondale, PA; several other nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews are also survived.
Rachel was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters: Peter, Samuel, Phillip, Anthony, Joseph and Frank Bianco- with sisters, Theresa Cerra and Mary Acquisto
The funeral was held Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 9:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Msgr. David L. Tressler, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Pallbearers: Jerry Martines, Mario Bianco, Jeff Besten, John Gillott and Brian Moran
