Obituary

Philomena C. Turano, 86, of Greenfield Township, PA., died Friday afternoon, October 3, 2008 at the Carbondale Nursing Home, Carbondale, PA., after an extended illness. She was the wife of the late William F. Turano, Sr., who died September 4, 1988. Born November 20, 1921 in Carbondale, PA., she was the daughter of the late Guy and Angela (Sirianni) DeFazio. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale and was a graduate of the Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She is survived by one son: Robert J. Turano of Greenfield Twp., PA.; one brother: Anthony DeFazio of Carbondale, PA.; four sisters: Mary Bonacci of Virginia, Theresa Bonacci of Carbondale, PA., Palma Tolerico of Carbondale, PA. and Rose Connor of Clifford, PA.; two grandchildren: Season Slish and husband Nicholas of Honesdale, PA. and Nicholas Turano of Pheonix, AZ.; two great grandchildren: Kameron Olivia Slish, both of Honesdale, PA.; several nieces nephews. She was preceded in death by one son: William M. Turano, Jr.; one sister: Ann Gallo. The funeral was held Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at 9:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Russell E. Motsay, pastor. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township. Pallbeareres: Nicholas Turano, Nicholas Slish, Carmine Carnie Tolerico, Augustine Gus Gallo, Jr., Robert Robbins and Peter DeFazio. Friends called Monday, October 6, 2008 from 5-9 PM.
