Phillip C. Hodges, Sr., 67, RR, Carbondale, PA, died Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA.
Born March 2, 1949 in Allentown, PA, he was the son of the late Charles and Margaret Riddett Hodges.
He was a graduate of Upper Moreland High School and later served in the Air Force as an aircraft maintenance specialist during the Vietnam War. During his service, he attained the rank of Sergeant was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Prior to his illness, he had been a self employed general contractor. Phil enjoyed fishing and belonged to many area pool leagues.
He is survived by his life partner of five years, Janet Zaleski of Carbondale, PA; two children: Phillip C. Hodges, Jr. and wife Alicia of Browndale, PA and Tracy Hodges of Forest City, PA; his former wife of 30 years, Donna Gillott Hodges; three grandchildren: Sydney, Phillip, III. and Vanessa Hodges; two brothers: Stephen Hodges and wife Rhonda of Rockwell, SC and Jeff Hodges and wife Gaye of Alamogordo, NM; several nieces and nephews.
Friends called on Saturday, November 19, 2016 from 2-5 p.m. at Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, a service was conducted at 5:00 p.m. by Pastor Wayne Wolfe of the First Presbyterian Church, Carbondale. Cremation followed.
