Philip W. Podhyski, 96, of Greenfield Township, PA, died Thursday, July 16, 2026 at the Carbondale Nursing Center. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, the former Rose Mary Malinchak, who died December 25, 2016.
Born April 9, 1930 in Mayfield, PA, he was the son of the late Stanley and Mary Mroczka Podhyski.
Phil was a graduate of Mayfield High School and served in the Army during the Korean War. He operated a gas and service station in Mayfield where he met his future wife when she rode in on a Triumph motorcycle to fill up.
For many years, he was a self-employed water well driller, worked with his brother as a Teamsters truck driver and also worked as a tractor trailer instructor for NTI. He will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed.
The family thanks the staff of the Carbondale Nursing Center for the exceptional care provided during Phil's stay.
He is survived by one son: Philip F. Podhyski and wife, Lisa of Fell Township, PA.; two daughters: Carol J. Podhyski and Diana L. Saxon and husband, Robert all of Greenfield Township, PA; two grandchildren: Kaitlin and Philip Podhyski; two step-grandchildren: Kim Bingham and Kerianne Rogers; five step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his brother: Stanley.
Private services will be held at Valley View Memorial Park, Montdale, PA, by Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
