Obituary

Philip T. Max Edwards, Jr., age 54, of Kingsley, PA., and formerly of Tompkinsville, PA., died Friday morning, July 10, 2009 at the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA., after an illness. Born January 3, 1955 in Carbondale, PA., he is the son of Anne (Daley) Edwards of Tompkinsville, PA. and the late Philip T. Edwards, Sr.He was a 1973 graduate of Lakeland High School and was a self-employed truck driver for over 30 years. He was a member of the Kingsley United Methodist Church, Sons of Nam Motorcycle Club in Lenox, PA., Harford Masonic Lodge 445 FAM and the Elk Mountain VFW Post 8488, Lenox, PA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling, snowmobiling and racing, but most of all he loved spending time with his two sons. Although they were adopted, they always thought of Max as their real dad. He reared two sons who know the difference between right and wrong. Max will be greatly missed by his family and friends, especially by his dogs, Jack and Oscar. Max's family will be forever grateful to the family who donated their loved one's lungs in 1989 . Max enjoyed good health for 20 years because of this generous act. Please consider being an organ donor.He is survived by two sons: Jay Edwards of Pflugerville, TX. and Bradley Edwards of Montrose, PA.; one grandson: Dante Edwards of Pflugerville, TX.; one sister: Linda Stephens of Jermyn, PA.; caregiver and best friend: Susan Edwards of Montrose, PA.; mother-in-law: Joyce Gregory; three sisters-in-law: Lori Marcy and husband Mark, Julie LaRue,from whom he received a kidney transplant in 1996 and husband Flip and Wendy Seymour and husband Rich.; three brothers-in-law: Randy Gregory and wife Laura, Kevin Gregory and companion Kathy and David Gregory and wife Ruth; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by one brother: Joseph Edwards; father-in-law: Herb Gregory; brother-in-law: Eric Stephens.The funeral was held Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 11:00 AM from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Dundaff Main Streets, Clifford, PA., with the Rev. Phillip Richardson, pastor of the Kingsley United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment, Tompkinsville Cemetery, Tompkinsville, PA. Pallbearers: Robbie Gregory, Eric Stephens, Jr., Kyle Hanjaras, Hunter Philip Marcy, Luke and Zach LaRue -- All Nephews. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Sons of Nam and the Friends of the Forgotten Motorcycle Clubs. Friends called Monday, July 13, 2009 from 6-9 PM. A Masonic service was held at 8:00 PM.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the Endless Mountains Health Systems Building Fund, 3 Grow Avenue, Montrose, PA 18801.
