Peter P. Swinarski, Jr., 72, of Olyphant, PA and formerly of Richmondale, PA, died Thursday afternoon, October 30, 2014 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA. His wife the former Theresa J. Rushworth, died on December 15, 2010. Born in Simpson, PA, he was the son of the late Peter, Sr. and Martha Houser Swinarski. Pete was a 1960 graduate of the Fell Township High School in Simpson and served as vice president of his class. He retired from optical department of the Gentex Corporation in Simpson and was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, PA. Pete enjoyed camping, cooking and spending time with his friends. He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and NASCAR. Pete cherished every moment spent with his three grandchildren who were the light of his life. He is survived by one daughter: Rose Peters and husband Brian of Clarks Summit, PA; three grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Brian and McKenna Peters; two sisters: Irene Fry of Carbondale, PA and Evelyn Zrowka of Florida; one step brother: Thomas Kohut of Florida; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother: Richard Swinarski; four step brothers: Steven, Joseph, Frank and Peter Kohut. The funeral was held Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at 9:00 AM from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. John C. O'Bell, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Brian Peters, Jr., Kyle Hallisky, James Rushworth, John, Charles and Stephen Puza. Military honors were provided by the US Navy Honor Guard and the Shopa-Davey VFW Post 6082, Peckville, PA. Friends called Monday, November 3, 2014 from 4-7 PM.
