Peter Shupenes, Jr., 90, formerly of Kingsley, PA., died Monday evening, November 18, 2013 at Celtic Hospice in Dunmore, PA. He was the husband of the former Dorothy M. Domblosky who was the love of his life and died in 2005
Born in Scranton, PA., he was the son of the late Peter and Monica Shupenes.
He had been employed for many years at Chamberlain Manufacturing in Scranton and later retired from the Gentex Corporation in Simpson, PA. He was a skilled stone mason whose natural art talent allowed him to create beautiful patio and sidewalk designs. He was a former member of St. Martin of Tours Church in Jackson, PA., where he and his wife had been faithful parishioners.
He was a humble and peaceful man who never had a negative word to say about anyone. He and his wife enjoyed polkas, ballroom dancing and took great pride in their home that they built together in Kingsley. He was also very proud of his Lithuanian heritage.
He is survived by one son: Peter Shupenes of Boston, MA.; one daughter: Ramona Mazur and husband Robert of Blakely, PA., with whom he resided with for the past four years; one granddaughter: Brittney Mazur; one sister: Helen Valashinas
He was preceded in death by an infant son: Peter Edward Shupenes.
A blessing service was held Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 1:00 PM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with Msgr. Michael J. Delaney, pastor of Holy Cross Parish, Olyphant, PA., officiating. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Friends called Thursday, November 21, 2013 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM.
