Peter Misura, Sr., 90, of Carbondale, PA, passed away Sunday morning, January 30, 2022 at home. He was cared for during his illness by his loving wife of 66 years the former, Anna Grohol. Born July 9, 1931 in Elizabeth, NJ, he was the last surviving child of the late John and Katherine Kapral Misura. Pete grew up in Bayway, New Jersey and owned Misura's Painting and Decorating in Colonia, New Jersey. In 1973, he moved his family to Simpson, PA, and was the owner of Misura's Cafe for the next 20 years. He later retired from Tobyhanna Army Depot. Pete was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean War and later with the Army National Guard from 1975 to 1984. He was a member of the VFW Post 4712, Simpson, where he served with their honor guard for 27 years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 221, Carbondale, the Moxie Club, Carbondale, Grattan Singer Hose Company, Simpson, and a founding member of the Tri-County Sportsman Association. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Home Health Care Professionals and Hospice for their compassionate care. He is survived by four children: Peter Misura and wife, Chris, Mary Ann Barnes and husband, Dave, Mark Misura and wife, Patty and Lisa Nikirk; five grandchildren: Robert Travers, Mark Misura, Jr., Tarra Malecke, Rosanna Misura and Peter Barnes; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a grandson: Devin Barnes; and four sisters and six brothers. The funeral was held Saturday, February 5, 2022 from Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. from St. Michael's Church, 46 Midland Street, Simpson, PA, celebrated by Rev. Arun Lakra, assistant pastor. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Robert Travers, Mark Misura, Jr., Peter Barnes, Andrew Misura, Joseph Misura and Daniel Malecke.
