Peter J. D'Aula, 82, of Carbondale, PA, died Sunday, July 5, 2015 at VNA Hospice, Scranton, PA. He is survived by his longtime companion, Gail Nygard of Carbondale, PA.
Born March 8, 1933 in New York, NY, he was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and had resided in Brooklyn, New York for many years, where he worked in demolition. In 1986, he moved to Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania where he worked in the maintenance department at the former Sheraton Crossgates Hotel on the Square in Wilkes Barre. He resided at the Creekside Healthcare Center in Carbondale for the past five years.
Peter was a very generous person who volunteered his time for the United Way and for V.I.S.I.O.N., a homeless shelter in Wilkes Barre. He was a very handy person who could fix or invent anything. Over the years, he and Gail raised many Cockatoo's. He will be deeply missed by Gail and his many friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Paul D'Aula.
Friends called Thursday, July 9, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, PA. Interment with military honors, Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
