Peter J. Chernesky, 88, of Baltimore, MD., died Friday evening, May 18, 2007 at the VNA Hospice Unit at Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA., after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife the former Marion Bobby Paone. They were married on October 13, 1945.
Born August 23, 1918 in Scranton, PA., he was the son of the late John and Marcella Naujaulis Chernesky. He resided in Baltimore for the past 65 years and was a member of St. Anthony's Church, Baltimore. He was a graduate of Johnson Technical School in Scranton and was employed by Martin Marietta in Baltimore as a tool and die maker prior to his retirement. He and his beloved Bobby enjoyed traveling to Florida and their frequent day trips to Atlantic City, NJ.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four sisters: Ann Chermak Krutlies, Mary Jervis, Jule Grady and Elizabeth Vesnesky; one brother: Anthony Chernesky. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at 11:15 AM from St. Joseph's Church, 1601 North Main Avenue, Scranton, celebrated by Msgr. Peter P. Madus, pastor. Entombment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. Pallbearers: John Jones, Jr., Steve Siciliano, William Dolinsky, Michael Grady, Frank and Marc Pagnotti. Family and friends called at the church one hour prior to the mass. Arrangements were entrusted to the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Carbondale, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to VNA Hospice, 301 Delaware Avenue, Olyphant, PA. 18447.
