Obituary

Pearl "Gramma Pearl" Tranovich, 93, of Greenfield Township, PA, died Friday, March 17, 2023 at home, after an illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Edward J. Tranovich on November 8, 2011.

Born January 2, 1930 in Dickson City, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Ganczarski Stracham.

Pearl was a 1947 graduate of Scott High School and worked as a seamstress for Baumel Dress Company, Olyphant, and Barbizon Slip Factory, Jessup, for several years. She was an integral part in the operation of the family's dairy farm. Due to her health, she most recently served in a supervisory role, where she was quick to point out when something was not being done correctly. Pearl was a devout catholic and a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, and a former longtime member of St. Mary's BVM Church in Dickson City.

Pearl dedicated her whole life to the needs of her family by working outside the home, raising a family, and tending to the farm. She was a devoted grandmother who treasured the time spent with her grandchildren. Two of her favorite pastimes were cutting her lawn with her ride on mower and going for coffee at DD. She was fondly called "Gramma Pearl" and she cherished the role of being a surrogate grandmother to so many over the years.

She is survived by two sons: Edward Tranovich and companion, Marie Halestski of Jermyn, PA, and Brian Tranovich and wife, Mary Ann of Greenfield Township, PA; two daughters: Sharon Gaughan of Greenfield Township, PA and Christine Fron and husband, John of Scott Township, PA; four grandchildren: John David Fron and fiancée, Nicole Diana, Michael Charles Fron and fiancée, Sophie Swetter, Mary Beth Nogan and husband, David and Kristina Tranovich; one sister: Romayne Guzzi of Scott Township, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a brother: John Stracham, Jr.

The funeral was held Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale, PA, celebrated by Rev. Joseph Mosley, senior priest. Interment, Sandy Banks Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.

Pallbearers: Brian Tranovich, Edward Tranovich, John David Fron, Michael Fron, David Nogan and Barry Doyle.
