Pauline E. Baron, 88, of Clifford Township, PA, died Wednesday morning, August 19, 2015 at home surrounded by her family after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Adam J. Baron, who died December 1, 2010. Born October 5, 1926 in Archbald, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Elizabeth (Giambetti) Violanti. Pauline was a graduate of Archbald High School and St. Thomas Aquinas Commercial School, Archbald, PA. She had been employed as a secretary in the office of Thomas Blomain Insurance Agency, Archbald, USF&G in Scranton, PA and as a cutter for the Barbizon Dress Factory, in Jessup, PA. She and her husband had owned Baron's Hotel in Clifford for 25 years and enjoyed serving the people in the community until her retirement. She was a member of St. Pius X Church, Royal, PA and its Altar and Rosary Society. She also taught catechism for several years at the church. While her girls were young, she was a Girl Scout Leader for a couple of years. She was also a lifetime and an original member of the Clifford Township Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and worked the annual picnic in the French Fry stand for 25 years with her best friend Dorothy Christianson. Pauline enjoyed shopping, casinos and going out to dinner on Saturday nights. She is survived by two daughters: Theresa Knowlton of Clarks Summit, PA and Joyce Belcher and husband Ervin of Clifford Township, PA; four grandchildren; Cody Knowlton and wife Brianna and Lindsey Knowlton all of Glens Falls, NY, Andrew Belcher and fiance' Michelle Nagel of Herrick Township, PA and Stephanie Belcher of Factoryville, PA; four great grandchildren: Tilden and Jace Knowlton and Lillian and Iason Burns; one sister: Josephine Rogan of Archbald, PA; several nieces and nephews. The funeral was held Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, Route 106, Royal, concelebrated by Rev. Michael J. Kirwin, pastor and Rev. Joseph Sitko, pastor of St. Mary's Church, Waymart, PA. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Andrew Belcher, Ervin Belcher, Fred Knowlton, Cody Knowlton and John Rogan, Jr. Friends called Tuesday, August 25, 2015 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations were sent to the Clifford Township Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary or American Cancer Society.
