Patrick J. McDonnell, age 61, of Carbondale, PA. died Saturday morning, July 19, 2003 at the Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton, PA. following a long and courageous battle with lymphoma cancer. His wife is the former Celia Leo. Born August 24, 1941 in Youngstown, OH. He was the son of the late Francis and Gertrude (Moran) McDonnell. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Carbondale. He was employed as the cafeteria manager at Carbondale Area High School for the past 25 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by one son: Patrick McDonnell, Jr. of Rockledge, PA.; two daughters: Maria Liptak of Dingmans Ferry, PA. and Christine Roberts of Archbald, PA.; one brother: Robert McDonnell of Greenfield Township, PA.; 4 Grandchildren; Nieces Nephews He was preceded in death by one brother: Francis McDonnell; one sister: Gertrude McDonnell The funeral was held Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at 9:00 am from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Russell Motsay, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township. Friends called Monday, July 21, 2003 from 6-9. Pallbearers: Tim McDonnell, Patrick McDonnell, Robert McDonnell, Greg Stackhouse, Paul Striefsky and James Palmiero. An honor guard was provided by the faculty and staff members of the Carbondale Area School District.
