Patrick J. Cerminaro age 91, of Heritage Towers, Doylestown, PA. and formerly of 95 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA. died peacefully Thursday night, July 31, 2003 at home. His loving wife of 68 years is the former Mary Ross. Born April 8, 1912 in Carbondale, PA. He was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Perri) Cerminaro. He began his career as a security guard at Farview State Hospital, Waymart, PA. He and his late brother Jack founded the first italian restaurant in Carbondale which was known as the Italian Kitchen. It was during this time that Patrick began to hone his culinary skills. He was later employed by the Gillen Coal Company for 25 years. Once he retired, he spent much of his free time tending bar, cooking and playing horse and pepper at the former Caruso Club of which he was a member. In 1991, he and his wife relocated to the Doylestown area so they could spend more time with their family. For several years he enjoyed working part-time at a local grocery market. While living at Heritage Towers, he enjoyed visits from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who affectionately referred to him as Poppy. He also enjoyed playing bingo and keeping abrest of the happenings in Carbondale by reading the Carbondale News. While residing in Carbondale he was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and active in local Republican politics. He is survived by one daughter: Patricia Cerminaro of Warwick, PA.; three grandchildren: Patrick Gibson and his wife Theresa of Warrington, PA., Cynthia Hill of Doylestown, PA. and Laura Bockowski of Abington, PA.; four treasured great gradchildren: Kristen McClinton of Doylestown, PA., Marissa, Nicholas and Maria Gibson of Warrington, PA.; one sister: Antoinette Troy of Newark, NJ.; Several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter: Shirley Cerminaro; two brothers: Jack and Frank Cerminaro. The funeral was held Monday, August 4, 2003 at 9:30 am from the Carmine J. and Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Russell Motsay, pastor. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Friends called Sunday, August 3, 2003 from 2-4 7-9. Pallbearers: Joseph Cerminaro, Patrick Gibson, Nicholas Gibson, Ed Bockowski, Gary Wasoski, Richard Pilcavage and Joseph Pilcavage.
