Patricia M. Telep, age 74, of Greenfield Township, PA., died Saturday morning, July 14, 2012 at the Commonwealth Hospice at Regional Hospital, Scranton, PA. She was the wife of the late Boris Telep who died May 15, 2010.
Born August 28, 1937 in Jersey City, NJ., she was the daughter of the late Joseph C., Sr. and Irene F. (Ruschman) Hampton.
She was a graduate of St. Michael's High School in Union City, New Jersey and was a secretary for 5 years at St. Joseph's Hospital in Carbondale. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Carbondale and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be dearly missed.
Patricia was a cloistered nun for twelve years during in time which she did calligraphy, paintings and designed and produced mass cards. She grew and was responsible for all of the flowers for the altar. She also had the responsibility of ringing the church bells. She sang, sewed all of the priests habits and made needlework for the Church Order. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, winemaking, sewing, painting, calligraphy, reading, family gatherings and raising animals on the farm.
She is survived by one daughter: Rebecca A. Morgan and husband Robert of Knoxville, TN.; two sons: Joseph S. Telep and Boris P. Telep and wife Tricia all of Greenfield Township, PA.; one sister: Agnes Maiuro of Greensburg, PA.; one brother: Joseph Hampton, Sr. of Newport News, VA.; six grandchildren: Henry, Alyssa, Paul and Nathan Morgan, James and Jacob Telep; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother: Thomas Hampton; one sister: Irene Pavlick.
The funeral was held Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 8:45 AM from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Msgr. David L. Tressler, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Pallbearers: Randy Telep, Stephen Telep, David Prestys, Michael Sullivan, T.J. Hampton and Edward Maiuro.
Friends called Monday, July 16, 2012 from 5-8 PM.
