Obituary

Patricia Helen Connor, RN., 50, of Houston, Tx., and formerly of Carbondale, PA. and Baltimore, MD., died unexpectedly Monday, October 16, 2006 at home. Born January 24, 1956 in Carbondale, PA., she was the daughter of the late Joseph P. and Helen T. Zvalauskas Connor. She attended and graduated from St. Rose School and Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and Luzerne County Community College. She was a nurse for close to 30 years working at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, a year of contracted service in Saudi Arabia and a combination of 10 years at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas and finally at Herman Hospital also in Texas. In November of 2004 she received the Heart of M.D. Anderson Outstanding Employee Award. Pat loved her job and was a serious and dedicated nurse who will be missed by her co-workers, patients and their families. She loved horses and practiced the English style of riding known as dressage. She owned two horses while living in Baltimore. Pat had many pets, several dogs and cats, birds and at one time a rabbit. Years ago she volunteered as a guide at the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. She loved classical music, was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling, especially to visit friends and family in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Seattle and Utah. She will be deeply missed by all. She is survived by two brothers: Joseph (Jody) Connor and wife Laura and John Leon Waterman both of Carbondale, PA; one nephew: Joseph Connor. A blessing service was held Friday, October 27, 2006 at 7:00 pm from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview 41st Streets, Carbondale, with the Rev. William Campbell, officiating. Cremation followed at the Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald, PA. Friends called Friday, October 27, 2006 from 6-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Lackawanna County, 967 Griffin Pond Road, Clarks Summit, PA 18411 or to the American Cancer Society, 1101 Hill Street, Jessup, PA 18434.
