Obituary

Pastor Jack Parry, 83, of Jessup, PA, died Saturday, April 1, 2017,at his brother, Chuck's home in Peckville, PA. He was the husband of the late Josefa "Maria" Castillo, who died March 25, 2006. Born April 14, 1933 in Blakely, PA, he was the son of the late Robert and Mae McLaughlin Parry. Pastor Jack was a 1951 graduate of Blakely High School and enlisted in the military where he served sever-and-a-half years in the Army and Air Force during the Korean War. He worked as a power plant foreman in Morocco for a few years while in the military and also as a civilian. He also graduated from officer's candidate school in both the Army and Air Force. After being discharged from the military, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Scranton in 1962. Pastor Jack worked for 20 years before his retirement in 1982 as a field director and executive for the Boy Scouts of America in Lackawanna, Montgomery, Chester and Mercer counties. He then worked for 15 years at Lockheed Martin in Archbald, PA. After his retirement, Pastor Jack was called to ministry and earned a certified pastoral degree from Global Bible University and became a pastoral care pastor at the Peckville Assembly of God Church since 2010. Pastor Jack was very active in the community as he was the Chaplain for the Christian Motorcycle Association, a life member of the VFW Shopa-Davey Post 6082 in Peckville, Erie Masonic Shrine, Masonic Blue Lodge in Sharpsville and the Valley of Newcastle Masonic Lodge, where he was a 32nd degree Knight. He is survived by two brothers: Robert Parry of Chapman Lake, PA and Charles Parry of Peckville, PA and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four sisters: Mae Kvetkosky, Delores Greenfield, Marlin Lemoncelli and Elaine Parry The funeral will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in the Peckville Assembly of God Church, 3364 Scranton Carbondale Highway, Blakely, PA, celebrated by Pastor Terry Drost. Military honors will also be held at the church. Private interment will be held in Union Cemetery, Peckville, PA. Friends may call at the church from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Arrangements are entrusted to the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc, Carbondale, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Peckville Assembly of God Church, 3364 Scranton Carbondale Highway, Blakely, PA, 18447 or the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Township, PA 18411.
