Nancy V. Mancuso, 86, of Carbondale, PA., died Thursday morning, March 3, 2011 at Hospice Community Care, Dunmore, PA. She was the wife of the late Samuel Thotto Mancuso, who died March 30, 2002.
Born August 26, 1924 in Newburgh, NY., she was the last surviving child of the late Camillo and Raffaela (DelConte) Volpe.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale. She was a loving wife and mother and was a wonderful homemaker and cook. She loved to paint and could often be seen painting the trim on the homestead or sitting on the back porch in her rocker. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the Home Health Care Professionals and Hospice of Eynon, PA., for their care and compassion over the past nine months.
She is survived by two daughters: Nancy Mancuso Shields and husband Terry of Carbondale, PA., who were her caregivers and Barbara Batory and husband Tom of Cincinnati, OH.; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four siblings who all died in the order in which they were born: Virginia Clavio of Newurgh, NY., Anna Orlandi of Cornwall on Hudson, NY., Margaret Giudice of Poughkeepsie, NY. and Samuel Volpe of Newburgh, NY.
The funeral was held Monday, March 7, 2011 at 9:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale., celebrated by Rev. Russell E. Motsay, pastor. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Friends called Sunday, March 6, 2011 from 4-8 PM.
