Obituary

Mitchell S. Mac Mondro, age 81, died Wednesday morning, September 22, 2004 in Dickson City. His wife is the former Florence Toton. They recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on June 30. Born August 12, 1923 in Dickson City, PA. He was the son of the late Frank and Julianna (Sulisz) Mondro. He was a member of St. Adalberts Polish National Catholic Church in Dickson City where he served as Honary Vice-Chairman and Treasurer of the Y.M.S. of R. for many years. He was a 1942 graduate of Dickson City High School. He served as Secretary of the Polish National Union of America for over 50 years. He was a volunteer member of the American Red Cross and a voluntary driver for Meals on Wheels. He was the owner operator along with his wife Florence of Mondros Market on Main Street of Dickson City for over 40 years until his retirement. He was an avid golfer and bowler where he was a member of the Senior League at Skyline Golf Course and the Y.M.S. of R. League for many years. Box 4777 New York, NY 10163 He is survived by: three daughters: Karen husband James Palumbo of Moosic, PA and their children James Nathan; Michele husband Tony Srebro of Dickson City, PA and their children Alexandra and Tessa; JoAnn husband Ron Appleyard of Charles Town, WV; one son: Mitchell, II wife Ellen Mondro of Westford, MA and their children Mitchell, III and Alexander; Nieces Nephews He was preceded in death by one brother: Frank Mondro; three sisters: Stella Beeby, Helen Bechaver and Jean Churi The funeral was held Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at 10:00 am from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home, 519 Dundaff Street, Dickson City, with mass at 10:30 am in St. Adalbert's Polish National Catholic Church, 515 Mary Street, Dickson City, celebrated by The Very Rev. William Chromey, pastor. Interment, parish cemetery, Dickson City, PA. Friends called Tuesday from 2-4 6-9 PM. Wake service was held at 7:00 PM. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, PA., nephews to Mr. Mondro. Pallbearers: Mitchell Mondro, II,(Son); James P. Palumbo, (Son-in-Law); Ron Appleyard, (Son-in-Law); Tony Srebro, (Son-in-Law), James E. Palumbo, (Grandson); Nathan Palumbo, (Grandson), Mitchell Mondro, III, (Grandson); and Alexander Mondro, (Grandson).
