Mildred M. Millie Griffin, 80, of Simpson, PA., died Sunday afternoon, October 17, 2010 at home. She was the wife of the late Norris Griffin who died in 1996.
Born January 20, 1930 in Whites Crossing, PA., she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Catherine (McCabe) Gorel.
She was a graduate of Fell High School and had been employed at General Dynamics in Eynon prior to her retirement.
She loved her dogs and was an avid New York Yankees fan. She especially enjoyed going to Yankee Stadium and saw the second to last game in the old stadium.
She had a great sense of humor, was very strong willed and was the best mom and grandmother anyone could wish for. Her children and grandchildren wanted for nothing and she worked tirelessly to provide for them. For the past seven years her daughter was very proud to be her primary caregiver during her illness. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by one daughter: Lisa Bowan of Simpson, PA.; one son: James Buckley of Montdale, PA.; three grandsons: James Buckley, II., David Keith Bowan and Kevin Michael Bowan; two brothers: Joseph Gorel of Whites Crossing, PA. and Andrew Gorel of Carbondale, PA.; two sisters: Florence Bishop of Carbondale, PA. and Loretta Barrese of Union Dale, PA.; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother: John Gorel.
As per her request, she was cremated and no services were held.
Arrangements were under the direction of Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
