Michael T. "Mickey" Fortuner, Sr., 84, of Clifford Township, PA, and formerly of Vandling, PA, for 48 years, died Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart, PA. His wife was the late Ruth Shuman Fortuner, who died in 2001. Born May 21, 1932 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Eibes Fortuner. Known as Mickey by so many, he was blessed with a long life and had the joy of spending so much time with family and friends. He was a hard working family man, truck driver, metal recycler long before it was mainstream. He and his wife Ruth were together doing what they loved, antiques. He drove for his family's business, Fortuner's Moving and Storage. Mickey was so proud of the fact that he helped build the Stillwater Dam by driving the concrete truck back and forth numerous times. He loved cars and was an avid fan of Nascar. The family would like to thank Dr. David Tomazic, his staff and also the staff at Wayne Woodlands Manor for their compassionate care to Mickey during his illness. He will be greatly missed by his family and dogs Charlie and Freckle. He is survived by: three daughters: Joan Jaggars of Simpson, PA, Suzanne Pauswinski of Carbondale, PA and Theresa Mikolon and husband Emil of Herrick Center, PA; three sons: Michael Fortuner, Jr. of Pleasant Mount, PA, John Fortuner of Browndale, PA and Dennis Fortuner and wife Wanda of Rural Retreat, VA; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; his companion of 15 years: Judy Lapenta of Clifford Township, PA. He was preceded in death by: four sons: James, Jerome, Andrew and Randy Fortuner; three brothers: Albert, Joseph and Thomas Fortuner; two sisters: Marie Brown and Joann Fortuner. As per Mickey's wishes, he was cremated with no services held. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
