Michael J. Andrews, Sr., 71, a resident of Greenfield Township, PA., for the past six years and formerly of Dunmore, PA. and Hollisterville, PA., died Thursday, March 1, 2007 at VNA Hospice, Scranton, PA. He was the husband of the former Lea Cox. Born in Throop, PA., he was the son of the late Andrew Pokusa and Margaret Polinski Andrews. He was a member of St. Pius X Church in Royal, PA., and was a 1952 graduate of Scranton Tech High School. He worked at Aztech Incorporated in Ivyland, PA., as an erector for many years and as an ironman for the local Scranton Welder's Union for 11 years and also in the maintenance department at the Lackawanna County Vocational Tech School, Scranton, PA., for 11 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by one daughter: Susan Rushworth of Carbondale, PA.; four sons: Michael Jr. of Greenfield Township, PA., Christopher of Uniondale, PA., Daniel of Mayfield, PA. and Timothy of Dunmore, PA.; four brothers: Andrew of Belair, MD., Joseph and David both of Philadelphia, PA. and Paul of Maine; nine grandchildren: Serina, Megan, Kelsey, Maura, Kaitlyn, Haley, Michael, III., Matthew Timothy; two great grandchildren, Jacob Joshua; Several Nieces Nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Paula. The funeral was held Monday, March 5, 2007 at 9:00 AM from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home, Dundaff Main Streets, Clifford, PA., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Pius X Church, Royal, celebrated by the Rev. William D. Campbell, Senior Priest. Inurnment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township. Cremation took place at the Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald. Friends called Sunday, March 4, 2007 from 2-4 7-9 PM. Memorial Contributions can be made to VNA Hospice Unit at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton.
