Melda S. Raissis, 74, of Mountain Top, PA., died Thursday evening, February 4, 2010 at Smith Health Care Center, Mountain Top. She was the wife of the late Cosmos Raissis who died in 1999. Born February 8, 1935 in Staten Island, NY., she was the daughter of the late Arnold J. and Ranghild (Fogelberg) Schultz. She was a former resident of Baldwin, Long Island, New York and had also resided in Dallas, Pennsylvania. After raising her children, she worked with her husband at their restaurant, Melda's Sandwich Shop, Sunnyside, Queens, New York. She was of the Lutheran faith. She is survived by two daughters: Lori Jenkins of Glens Falls, NY. and Lisa Fassari of Mountain Top, PA.; two sons: Keith and Kurt Raissis both of Florida.; three sisters: Joan Rodgers of California, Norma Parisi of Blue Point, NY. and Helen Villacampa of Baldwin, NY.; one brother: Arnold Schultz of Minnesota; 12 Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother: Rodney Schultz. As per her request, she was cremated. Entombment, Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, Long Island, NY. Cremation arrangements were entrusted into the care of the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
