Our loving sister and aunt, Mary Zigmont, passed away into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on Friday, October 14, 2016 at Mercy House of the Southern Tier Endicott, NY. Her last days were full of love, family and prayer, just the way she would of loved it. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Raymond Zigmont. Mary was born November 30, 1938 in Carbondale, PA and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Monica McGee Mulrooney. Mary was a life long resident of Carbondale and loved her home on Upper Powderly Street, her little spot of heaven. She spent many happy years there with her husband Ray enjoying their life together. Mary was the rock of her family, taking care of her parents and mother in law until their passing. Mary was always there for her sisters and all her nieces and nephews. In good times and bad Mary was the first one to be there for love and support, she was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need and her love knew no bounds. Every special occasion was never forgotten and she always made you feel loved and special. Mary enjoyed spending time working in her garden and spending time with friends and family. Mary also loved going on gambling trips with the "three amigos", her sister Monica and her god daughter Marybeth and nephew Ray. She also enjoyed watching sporting events on TV, always rooting for the Pennsylvania teams. Mary retired from Weston in Archbald and she was a life long member of St. Rose of Lima Church in Carbondale. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at the Mercy House of the Southern Tier in Endicott. The love, dignity, spiritual support and respect they gave to Aunt Mary will never be forgotten. She is survived by her sisters: Monica (William) Machalek of Endicott, NY and Rose (Charles) Maine of Ocala, FL; Mary and Ray were never blessed with children of their own, but we were all blessed to have our "Aunt Mary", she is also survived by her "children", her nieces and nephews: Marybeth (Raymond) Vanderpoel , Lisa (Paul) Veruto, Karen Machalek, David (Carrie) Machalek all of Endicott, NY, Joe (Lisa) Machalek of Syracuse, NY, Cathy Ciganek of Endicott, NY, Bobby (Margaret) Ciganek of Endicott, NY, Jim (Wendy) Ciganek of Richmond, VA, Jacqueline (John) Kadish-Benson, Katie Kadish-Hesse and William Kadish; many great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a sister: Ann (Frank) Ciganek. The funeral was held Monday, October 17, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. from the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Morris Place at Terrace Street, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Paul Fontanella, assistant pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: William Veruto, Jonathan Veruto, Michael Veruto, Joseph Machalek, David Machalek and Ray Vanderpoel.
