Mary A. Donnelly Whitaker, 85, of Harford Township, PA, died Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA, after a sudden illness. She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Roger E. Whitaker, Sr.

Born December 31, 1936 in Newark, NJ, she was the daughter of the late James Francis Donnelly, Sr. and Mary Agnes Smith Donnelly. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who never missed any of her grandchildren's sporting events. She was passionate about Notre Dame sports. Her family will cherish the memories of decades of family get togethers in Harford, especially her birthday parties on New Year's Eve.

As Mary's family mourns her loss, they know she would want them to: Grieve not… Nor speak of me with tears… But laugh and talk of me as though I were beside you. I loved you so… 'Twas heaven here with you.

Mary will be deeply missed by her loving family which includes her three children: Mary Godfrey and husband, Doug, Roger Whitaker, Jr. and wife, Maureen and Ron Whitaker and wife, Della; nine grandchildren: Erin Kathleen Maloney and Brian, Meghan Elizabeth Ford and Ben, Douglas Kenneth Godfrey and Angelika, Daniel Kevan Godfrey and Chelsea, Colleen Patricia Whitaker and Ryan, Sean Patrick Whitaker and Shea, Kelsey Elizabeth Whitaker and Tim, Mickey James Whitaker and Makenna Mary Whitaker; and ten great-grandchildren: Mary Quinn, Robert Brian, Adelaide Patricia, William Jan, Emily Grace, John Kevin, Fae Finola, Carson James, Elizabeth Marie and Madelyn Maureen.

She was preceded in death by her younger brother: James Francis Donnelly, Jr.

A private funeral mass will be held at a later date from Mary's parish, St. John Vianney, (St. Pius X. Church) in Royal, PA.
