Mary Lou Scanlon, age 56, a longtime resident of the White Haven Center, White Haven, PA., and formerly of Carbondale, PA., died Tuesday evening, June 2, 2009 at the Hazleton General Hospital, Hazleton, PA. of heart failure. Born November 17, 1952 in Carbondale, PA., she was the daughter of the late Raymond P. and Louise (Mannion) Scanlon.She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. She is survived by two sisters: Joan Contratto of Sturgen Bay, WI. and Ann Prince of Clarks Summit, PA.; one brother: Patrick Scanlon of Simpson, PA.; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.She was preceded in death by two brothers: Robert and Eugene Scanlon.The funeral was held Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 10:30 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., Farview 41st Streets, Carbondale, PA., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Monsignor Joseph G. Quinn, pastor. Interment, Canaan Corners Cemetery, Waymart, PA. Pallbearers: James R. Reich, Jeffrey Pfeiffer, P.J. Scanlon and Gretchen Jones. Friends called Friday, June 5, 2009 from 6-8 PM and Saturday, June 6, 2009 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the funeral home.
