Mary T. Pidgeon, 87, a resident of the Forest City Nursing Home, Forest City, PA. and formerly of Carbondale, PA., died Saturday afternoon, January 16, 2010 at the nursing home. Born July 11, 1922 in Carbondale, PA., she was the daughter of and the last surviving child of the late Thomas and Kathryn (Price) Pidgeon. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed for many years at the former J.J. Newberry's and McCrory's store in Carbondale. She is survived by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by six brothers: Gerard, Thomas, John, Leo, Joseph and Paul Pidgeon.; two sisters: Rose Gazdzinski and Catherine Pidgeon. The funeral was held Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 10:15 AM from the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Morris Place at Terrace Street, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by her nephew, Rev. John Pidgeon, pastor of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, Philadelphia, PA. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Jeff Arthur, Paul Pidgeon, Thomas Byrne, Paul Pidgeon and Thomas Byrne.
